Why I Still Blog, Despite Instagram

Maintaining my blog has gotten harder and harder to do as years go by. I started this blog in 2009, when this was the only real platform I had to freely share my ideas, outfits, inspirations and anything I can think of. I also started this when i was a naive, college student and back then I thought when I finish school i would actually have more time to keep blogging. Maaan, i was so wrong. After I graduated fashion school, I opened up my first boutique at age 22... then real life happened. Ikr?

I guess the real reason why I still keep my blog going is that i dont feel the need or the pressure to schedule a post or creatively curate it as much as Instagram. I can just leave and come back here whenever i feel like it. This has always been a safe place for me and even when i lose track of that from time to time, i still come back to its main purpose. I still manage to keep this place as personal as possible. Which means a little less advertising- and 100% keeping it real.

So here it goes, I'll be posting all my draft posts before the year ends. Massive #ootd , iphone photos to dump. I may or may not put words/phrases in it but i promise to tag or mention the brands (if its branded lol) of what im wearing. That's the main point of this fashion blog, anyway.

Just in time for National Philippine Streetwear Day, here's a short entry of me wearing my favorite (coz im biased like that) local brand, Fake Friends (IG: @urfakefriend). It's been an honor being part of the local scene, despite being a girl surrounded by male streetwear designers. There are days when i get frustrated but knowing i represent the female side, it makes all the hassle worth while. I've also been MIA because my laptop got busted. I have failed to fulfill my promise of posting the remaining drafts on my blog. All my files and photos are gone because i never backed them up. I am still trying to recover whatever is left of it. This is how i dress when its raining and im lazy (which is 80% of the time). Its been very gloomy lately and the heavy rain have caused little floods and puddles (literally) everywhere in the city. As much as i love rain and the cold weather it brings, I cant stand having my shoes wet. People close to me knows this haha. I guess that's the disadvantage of investing on pricey sneakers, you cant afford to wear it on rainy days. And because i live in a third world country, the internet is EXTRA slow when it rains. That's another millennial problem that i don't wanna discuss. As always, gonna leave you with another outfit photo dump, im outta here! And guys, stay dry and throw your garbage properly. Peace ~~~

Rebel From Birth

So last week my interview with Rebel From Birth, an online magazine for women streetwear news, was released here (clickable). Through that platform, they share stories of different girl bosses from all over the world. They also share news about the latest shoe drop, collab and other things that would interest women who are into streetwear. Its a known fact that the streetwear industry here in my country is dominated by men. Escpecially here in my small city. Even my readers and followers are mostly foreign because (most) of the local girls cant relate to my fashion and style. Some of the brands I wear cant be bought in the malls here. Its not something im upset about, in fact I'm glad I get to stick to what I love the most instead of trying to fit in the norm just to gain the readers. I'm happy with what I'm building here. There is no telling what's in store for me but I'm pretty sure I'll still wear/preach/do what my heart wants lol.

My holy grail shoes- the only shoes i bought in Hong Kong. I've been saving up for this and the comfort it gives is quite satisfying. Worth every penny <3

This Chinese collar is a one-of-one shirt I made for Fake Friends. Its a prototype from last year that didn't make it to our collection. We are still trying to improve the pattern, cut and sizing on this so who knows, this might come out in the future ;)

Mongkok Nights ~ FILA Lifestyle II

I probably watch too many old movies and read too much 80s-90s magazines for me to realize that a pink windbreaker tracksuit is a (vital) wardrobe essential. That, and my old soul. A staple 80s classic: matching FILA windbreaker tracksuit. I added a little modern twist with my Ronnie Fieg x PUMA Sakura project shoes and a local brand Fake Friends cap and shirt. These photos were taken in the streets of Mongkok one rainy night. This was by far my favorite place in the country and I visit this street every night. It fascinates me how there are ALWAYS tons of people walking around- it feels like Christmas rush everyday. Its also a perfect place to observe their culture and the perfect place to buy pasalubongs! :> The ultimate sneaker street is also located here so...

My love for matching tracksuits go way back as a kid. I remember just pulling out mom's old tracksuits (probably purchased in the 80s due to its very bright mixture of colors :O) and put it on me as I play dress up. Of course it was baggy and way bigger than me since I was only 9. I promised myself I'd wear it when the time comes... AND when the time finally came, I couldn't find it anymore. Mom probably gave it away coz nobody was wearing it. This is probably why I always have the urge to buy cute tracksuits whenever i see one. Sad twist lol.

I wear clear specs to hide the fact that I lack sleep! Lol perfect stylish disguise ~

FILA's comeback game is strong and I dig how they still stick to their vintage aesthetic.
